Trainings
Product Design
Learn the Product approach.
Based on problem resolution and adapted to changing contexts, the product approach is broadly adopted to build software.
With this course, you will learn to set a vision for your product, discover and explore the problem space, design a solution and organize the software build, and model your product's domain with Domain-Driven Design techniques.
For a new product, you will also learn how to choose where to start from and how to analyze user feedback, especially when success is not reached in the first iterations.
Goals
Understand product vs project approaches.
Learn how to set a vision for the product.
Be able to organize and conduct a discovery phase.
Create a domain model.
Be able to organize and conduct delivery phases.
Program
Day 1 — Product concepts, envision & discovery. Definitions: project, product, problem, value; output vs outcome; project vs product thinking; the journey to product teams. Envision: from mission to functions, capabilities, OKR, roadmap, decision making. Discovery phase and lean product management loop, problem exploration, and a toolbox with jobs-to-be-done, impact mapping, user journeys, Ishikawa diagrams and event storming.
Day 2 — Design & modeling. Modeling the domain early: problem vs solution, domains and subdomains, bounded contexts and ubiquitous language. Context mapping and relationship patterns. The domain metamodel: state modeling, values, entities, referentials, services, aggregates. Bounded context canvas, system interfaces, decomposition criteria and strategic classification.
Day 3 — Build and run. Design the solution: brainstorming, ideation and first choices, hypothesis validation, risk identification and mitigation. Build: story mapping, BDD and TDD, user stories, poker planning, backlog management and prioritization, team organization and topologies, ADR, shift left. Run: feedback impact on the roadmap. Product design essentials.
The training uses the case of a ride platform as a common thread for the practical exercises. Participants can also submit cases related to their field.
Audience & prerequisites
Audience: project and product managers, product owners, consultants working on software-related tasks (specifications, testing, support, etc.), team leaders.
Prerequisites: knowledge of the Agile approach and at least 1 year in a project manager or product owner role.
50% theory, 50% practice; exercises can be adapted to your context. PDF slides (in English) are distributed at the end of the training, along with a completion certificate.
Practical information
