Trainings
Production-Ready Clojure
Learn the Clojure language, its ecosystem and strong software engineering disciplines for production-ready software.
Most of the training is practical with simple but representative projects.
In addition, we consolidate the fundamentals of software engineering, design practices and programming paradigms.
At the end of the course, the trainee will be autonomous enough to start up and maintain a Clojure project and can even lead a team towards a Clojure ecosystem.
Goal
Pass on the knowledge and good practices to develop industrial-quality Clojure applications.
Program
Day 1 — The basics. History of Clojure, syntax, main concepts and philosophy of the language. The tools needed to work efficiently: the REPL and integration with code editors. Hands-on practice with the data structures and core functions. Reached level: Clojure Beginner.
Day 2 — Let's build a project. Consolidate the foundations of functional programming, usable in other languages too. Create a Clojure project with its full lifecycle, from development to delivery, covering the different levels of testing and their tools. Overview of the main libraries and frameworks of the ecosystem, and our own tech radar for industrial-quality applications. Reached level: Clojure Maintainer.
Day 3 — Industrial-grade software. Controlling the shapes and structure of data to ensure software consistency. Domain-Driven Design concepts and the separation of code responsibilities between technical and domain needs. The different styles of application architecture, with their strengths and weaknesses. Reached level: Autonomous Clojure Developer.
Day 4 — Advanced topics. Compiling Clojure for the browser: the ClojureScript ecosystem, its main tools and frameworks, and the lifecycle of a web project. How Clojure takes advantage of the richness of the JVM world and plugs into Java tools. Reached level: Clojure Lead Developer.
